Jack, there has been a seismic shift in abortion rights and access even since the U.S. Supreme Court struck down the landmark decision of Roe v. Wade last year.

This week, North Carolina joined 19 other states to further restrict or ban access to safe and legal abortion care.

This past weekend, the Democratic governor of North Carolina vetoed legislation that would enact a 12 week abortion ban in the state. Thanks to a former Democrat who switched parties, though, Republicans now have a supermajority in the state legislature and voted along party lines to override the governor's veto.

The governor needed just one, one single Republican to vote against the override. Unfortunately, every single Republican voted to restrict a person's access to safe and legal abortion care.

Gerrymandering gave North Carolina Republicans their supermajority, in 2024 with enough support, we can change that. But there is so much more on the line in 2024 for North Carolina:

16 Electoral Votes: Trump carried NC by just 1 point in 2020. Putting this state on the board for Dems in 2024 makes a Trump comeback extremely difficult.

Governor: Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper is term-limited, so keeping this seat is a MUST to keep one of the most extreme Republican legislatures in the country in check.

Congress: Democrats picked up two House seats here 2022, but Republicans are on the verge of re-gerrymandering the map. That means we need to play serious defense in NC if we're going to break Kevin McCarthy's tiny majority and give President Biden a Democratic House in his second term.

Attorney general: Democratic Attorney General Josh Stein is running for governor, opening up one of the most powerful offices in the state. Trump's lackeys went HARD for AG posts in 2022, part of their strategy to flip key offices so they can steal the 2024 election. We beat them in key states last year, and we can beat them again in NC next year.
