Hello comrades, here's what's going on in the chapter:
-
TONIGHT! Come join our Political Education Reading Group at Parish Hall from 7:00-8:30 to discuss Jesmyn Ward's Salvage the Bones. We will have food and drinks available! If you can't make it in person, you can Zoom into the meeting with this link.
- Also happening tonight — Make Entergy Pay! Join us at 7pm tonight to plan taking back control over our power! Zoom link here.

NEXT SATURDAY, May 27th: Louisiana March for LGBTQ Youth in BATON ROUGE
DSA New Orleans will be marching alongside comrades from Real Name Campaign, who are leading a march and rally against the Louisiana State Legislature's slate of hateful, violent bills targeting trans and queer people and youth.
"Before a single anti-LGBTQ, anti-child bill lands on his desk, we need to put public
pressure on the Governor to use his veto power now. We also need to send a strong
message to legislators who might already be thinking of orchestrating another bullsh*t
veto override session. We're taking to the streets again to defend LGBTQ youth, and we
want to see folks from every part of Louisiana there with us."
Read the full demands from Real Name Campaign here. Sign up to volunteer at the march here.

May General Meeting NEW DATE: NEXT SUNDAY, May 28th, at 12 noon. This will the last General Meeting before our Local Convention in June! Join us at Parish Hall or on Zoom. We'll be voting on a number of proposals, including a resolution to initiate a voter registration drive. And we'll be hearing from our candidates running to represent New Orleans as delegates at the DSA National Convention in August. After the meeting, we'll be rounding up for a crawfish boil at a second location – check back on Slack for details!
Solidarity,
DSA New Orleans Local Council

New to DSA? Check out our chapter's new member resources here. If you've got any questions about how to get involved or the work our chapter is doing, give us a shout at [email protected].
Not yet a member? The most important tool that the working class has is organization. We're strong when we fight together. We have to build a durable, mass political organization to wield the kind of power we need to win real change in our society. If you aren't a dues-paying member of DSA yet, join today!
