John,
Earlier this year Gov. Ron DeSantis banned African American Studies from being taught in high schools across the state. He actually had the nerve to say the course violates state law and “lacks educational value."
Just a reminder, white supremacy is a machine that never sleeps.
We're in an era where power-hungry politicians are throwing tantrums because nobody sane agrees with their ridiculous logic -- and Donald Trump is clearly the ringleader.
After months of being ridiculed for his clear attempt to whitewash the history of systemic racism in this country, he's back again, with the “Stop-WOKE” law, which bans educating our students and children about the
covert and overt racism that has and still is established on Black people by racist white supremacists.
John, the struggles for necessary truths in our educational systems and equity will continue until we can ensure every Black person has an opportunity to thrive. Take the pledge and commit to fighting for our students.
Florida is only the beginning, this extraordinary effort to strip and change the history of our people isn't anything new and it won't stop here. There are over 550 anti-critical race theory efforts at the local, state, and federal levels, nationwide.
Now more than ever, it's so important to understand that we could lose our history and culture due to white supremacy.
Today and every day, we must remember that this nation was built by Black people. This attack on our students is more than just education. It's an attempt to try and remove the tools necessary to identify white supremacy, organize, end police violence, and more.
But, news flash DeSantis: You're going to fail at this attempt, as we have always had to create ways to prevail against politicians like you. The fight for Black liberation didn't just start when you came into office and it won't end until you're gone.
Sign on and pledge to uproot white supremacy out of our educational system once and for all.
In love and solidarity,
