Friends,

This week I spoke at the House Armed Services Committee about a subject I strongly advocate for—pushing for further research on the use of psychedelics for active-duty service members. When it comes to saving lives, innovative treatments for PTSD and other trauma should not be overlooked, especially when the results are promising.

I also spoke on the Oversight and Investigations subcommittee on cybersecurity threats to hospitals and how we can improve it, and spoke with Fox 26 Houston about the impact of the end of Title 42.

Sincerely,

This Is Why I Advocate For Life-Saving Psychedelics

Image

Service members deserve to be treated with effective, innovative care. Even if the treatments seem shocking. This week I spoke at the House Armed Services Committee to push for further research on the use of psychedelics for active-duty service members. Studies and personal testimonials show the same thing: it works. Close friends of mine, who have suffered trauma and PTSD, have turned to psychedelic treatments. It’s changed their lives, relationships, and put them on a path to live after devastating trauma. PTSD is the fourth highest service-connected disability, with more than 1.2 million veterans receiving compensation for PTSD. We can’t grow complacent. We should encourage any and all innovation that will help especially when it can save the lives of our active-duty service members.

The Chaos On Our Southern Border Is Chain Migration On Steroids

Image

The Biden Administration’s message is clear: our border is open. Migrants are coming in droves while the left focuses on “compassion” and feelings instead of seeing the reality of what this is — a complete crisis. We have a rule of law in this country that must be followed. Our border towns and Border Patrol agents are overwhelmed and lacking the resources they need to fight this surge. There are real solutions to this crisis, but this administration has showed they have no interest in that.

A Survivor’s Story of Life Inside China’s Uyghur Labor Camps | Nury Turkel

Image

Nury Turkel is a Uyghur American attorney and human rights advocate who was born over 50 years ago inside a Maoist labor camp in China’s Xinjiang province. Life for the average Chinese citizen has improved dramatically since then, but not for the ethnic Uyghurs. Nury joins me to describe the wide-scale human rights abuses being committed by the CCP in Xinjiang: slavery, forced marriages, compulsory tracking, censorship, re-education camps, and the erasure of Uyghur culture and religious beliefs.
