Al-Walaja is a picturesque Palestinian village between Jerusalem and Bethlehem that lives under the constant specter of home demolitions. Since 1967, the Israeli authorities have refused to design and approve a zoning plan for the village, thus rendering it impossible to receive building permits in the part of the village that Jerusalem has annexed. A door for change opened last year. The Israeli Supreme Court stayed the demolition orders for 38 homes and the villagers hired a planner to move forward. Still, demolitions continue in al-Walaja. Spread the word through your networks and join us in hearing from one of the villagers, understanding the planning process, and learning how we can help fund it.
Join us as for a one-hour Zoom from Jerusalem as we learn more about the current situation in al-Walaja and how we can help them proceed.
