Friend,

When your child is sick, you shouldn't have to worry about whether you'll be able to make rent if you stay home to care for them. And when you're sick, you shouldn't have to struggle through the workday or risk being fired. But the 28 million Americans who don't have job-protected sick leave are faced with these impossible decisions every year.

It's just plain wrong that in 2023, we don't have guaranteed sick leave for all Americans. That's why I'm teaming up with my Democratic colleagues in the House and the Senate to introduce the Healthy Families Act — a bill that will establish job-protected sick leave for every single American.

This legislation will simplify the process for employees and expand sick leave to include caring for family members, accessing preventative care and recovering after experiencing domestic violence, stalking or sexual assault. It'll create additional economic security for families, benefit public health by reducing the spread of infectious diseases and lower health care costs by encouraging people to seek preventative care — all without any negative impacts on the economy.

Guaranteed sick leave just makes sense — and it's long overdue. I've been fighting for this legislation for decades, and now, we're closer than ever before to finally getting it across the finish line. But the only way to get anything done in Washington is with strong grassroots support from people like you. That's why I'm calling on 5,000 Democrats to add their names to my petition before midnight tonight. Please, will you sign on now to support this legislation?

This issue is incredibly important to me — and it'd mean so much to have your support in this fight.

Thank you for making your voice heard.
