Sen. Wyden has subpoena power.

Sen. Wyden strikes back at Harlan Crow.

Senate Finance Committee Chair Ron Wyden just ripped conservative billionaire Harlan Crow’s lawyers apart.

Crow had refused Wyden’s previous request to turn over records of all gifts to Clarence Thomas, absurdly claiming "separation of powers."

In a response yesterday, Wyden declared the obvious: "Mr. Crow is not a branch of government."

Wyden has subpoena power. His second (and likely final) request was markedly less polite, warning that "the committee may need to follow another route to compel his answers, and I’m prepared to make that happen." That’s how you use power!
