Enough is enough. The United States has mourned the loss of hundreds of thousands of adults and children to gun violence. It's shameful that our children live in fear because of the gun violence epidemic in this country.

Lawmakers need to realize the gravity of this issue — they need to see firsthand the suffering parents go through when they lose a child to gun violence. That’s why, just a few weeks ago, I joined with Mother’s United Against Violence to meet with Members of Congress and advocate for action to address gun violence.

Universal background checks, ammunition limitations for firearm magazines, banning the sale of military-style assault weapons, counseling and support for youth impacted by gun violence… John, these may seem like small steps, but they add up to monumental change — and WILL save lives.
