For many, leaving the EU is a profound and deep loss. However, the argument for Remain is lost for now and irrespective of how we voted, we must look to the future. The turn of a new decade and new chapter for the UK asks us – what sort of society do we want to become? What are the key challenges as we move forward into this next stage?
In my view, we must not be complacent in the battles ahead to protect our common values of inclusivity and openness, our progressive internationalism and the high standards and protections fought for within the EU.
We must also turn to the neglected, burning issues around us that have been eclipsed by Brexit, like the climate crisis, austerity and welfare reform and the impact of Brexit on communities and businesses. I want us to work together here in Cardiff North, to have an open discussion on and to find solutions to key challenges we face, moving forward.
I hope you’ll be able to join me in this discussion and I look forward to hearing your views. Please let me know if you can make it.
As ever, if you would like to get in touch with me please contact [email protected].
