Dr. Brian Williams JUST announced he is running to defend a must-win open House seat in Texas. If he is elected, he will be the first trauma surgeon ever elected to Congress and would become the first Black doctor as a voting member of Congress.
Team,
My name is Dr. Brian Williams. I’m an Air Force Veteran, trauma surgeon, gun safety advocate, and as of today, a candidate for Congress in Texas’ 32nd District.
Dallas is my home, and the only home my daughter has ever known. Working in the city’s operating rooms, I treated the never-ending flow of victims of gun violence.
I also witnessed the heartbreaking reality that our laws have made healthcare inaccessible to far too many people. Trying to ebb the constant stream of sick, injured, and dying people into my trauma center led me to realize that I needed to go beyond merely treating the wounds brought to me – I needed to address the root causes of the problem itself. That is why I’m running for Congress!
Our country is in crisis, and I was taught to always answer the call to serve when my community and country needed me. I’m ready to use my experience to bring change beyond my white coat to our communities, but I can’t do it alone. Will you become a founding member of my campaign by contributing $15, $32, or whatever you can today?
When I was a young boy, I’d watch my father put on his Air Force uniform every day. His example led me to my own military service and as a cadet at the United States Air Force Academy, the values of duty and justice were further instilled in me. After completing my surgical residency at Harvard Medical School, I chose to work at safety net hospitals so I could care for the people who need it most – people who are either overlooked or underserved by our healthcare system.
My trauma center was a barometer of the health of our nation, and the decisions of lawmakers determined who came through those doors. I grieved for gun violence victims alongside their families, every single one of them failed by our lawmakers unwilling to prioritize gun safety. I cared for sick community members unable to afford the basic preventative care that could have kept them out of my operating room. And I’ve cared for women with obstetric emergencies in a state where their reproductive freedoms are under attack.
I’ve seen the issues our country is facing through my patients’ eyes, and I’m ready to be a voice for them as the very first trauma surgeon to ever serve in Congress – but I need a strong team supporting my campaign every step of the way to get there.
Will you join me in answering this call to service by contributing $15, $32, or whatever you’re able to my campaign today?
