Hi friend,
I’m writing today to tell you about a bipartisan bill I just introduced called the America’s Children Act. I hope you’ll take the time to read about it, because I think this is a really important bill.
The America’s Children Act would provide a pathway to citizenship for hundreds of thousands of “Documented Dreamers” — children of long-term visa holders who have been waiting years and — in some cases decades — for a green card.
This bipartisan bill, which I introduced alongside Senator Rand Paul of Kentucky, will prevent these young people from “aging out” of their parents’ visas when they turn 21, and create additional green card opportunities for Documented Dreamers.
But right now, because their parents’ green card is in limbo, the more than 250,000 young people who were brought here legally, grew up here, and went to school here are forced to make the choice between self-deportation and leaving for a country they might not even remember, or staying in the U.S. and living undocumented.
This is not just about reforming our broken immigration system — it’s about addressing a moral wrong and ensuring the American Dream is available to everyone in this country.
This is the kind of bill I came to the Senate to introduce, and I’m hopeful that together we can ensure it has the bipartisan support needed to become law and finally right this wrong.
Thank you for reading, and for standing with me as we fight to protect the American Dream for ALL Americans.
