John,
Two years ago, West Virginia Attorney General Patrick Morrisey signed onto a federal lawsuit -- in our name as West Virginians -- to allow insurance companies to deny coverage for people with pre-existing conditions. To roll back federal dollars for addiction treatment. To repeal historic expansions to black lung benefits and rural health clinics that our people sorely need and deeply deserve. That lawsuit is currently making its way through the legal system and is expected to end up before the Supreme Court later this year.
If Morrisey wins his lawsuit, hundreds of thousands of West Virginians would most likely lose access to high-quality, affordable healthcare. Coal miners with black lung, underinsured families, recovering addicts, and more... Hundreds of thousands of our friends and neighbors will live sicker, die sooner, and die poorer, all because of Morrisey's partisan political grandstanding.
Meanwhile, Morrisey tries saving face by misleading the people it's his job to protect. He claims that if he succeeds in repealing Obamacare, he will re-enact a weaker version of the same federal coverages, and somehow magically the State will pay for it all. First, this is disastrous because we need stronger insurance, not weaker (his high-risk, threadbare plan would send most people straight to bankruptcy court if they ever really got sick). Second, we can't afford to pick up the costs of all the health coverage that are currently provided by the federal government through the Affordable Care Act. West Virginia does not have enough money at this time to replace the federal subsidies for health care in the private market, or to pay directly for the quality coverage that currently comes on the federal dime. It's a completely empty promise from Morrisey -- but of course, that's all he ever gave us.
One thing is clear, John: Attorney General Patrick Morrisey hasn't helped working West Virginians, and he frankly seems to think that no one here is sharp enough to hold him accountable. He’s dead wrong -- and together, we’re not going to let him get away with it any longer.
Unfortunately, many people aren't aware that this is even going on. It's up to you to make sure we have the resources to educate voters about Morrisey's anti-West Virginia agenda. It's up to you to chip in $20 to end Morrisey's madness >>> [[link removed]]

Turning the tide on the healthcare crisis requires massive cooperation from our healthcare providers, community organizations, local leaders, social workers, and all VOTERS just like you! One critical step that we can all take is to kick Morrisey out of office in November and replace him with an Attorney General who knows how to stand and deliver for the people, not corporate special interests. We need an Attorney General who has spent his career fighting for workers, coal miners and regular folks, not someone like Morrisey who is working to make the Mountain State sicker and poorer --- it should be a crime!
Stand with me against Morrisey and his plan to drastically increase healthcare costs for everyone in West Virginia and rip coverage away from the people who need it most. Invest $20 today in this campaign to turn the tide: secure.actblue.com/donate/samforwv [[link removed]]
