"If Volunteers of America hadn't been there...
I might be living under a bridge."

Hello Friend, these are Darla's words.

Darla hit rock bottom when she lost her home. It was unexpected. Things were fine, until her partner died from an illness and her financial troubles worsened. Darla’s world changed from a relatively normal life to a fight for survival.

Hungry, scared, and without options, she and her young boys, Ivan and Braiden, ended up at a homeless shelter. That's when we stepped in and worked with Darla, helping her to stabilize, stake out a plan and rebuild her life through transitional housing.

Friend, your support of VOA has meant the world to Darla—you helped changed her life.

It all started with a warm bed and a hot meal. Now Darla and her boys live on their own, and she works full-time at The Home Depot. Her family feels safe and secure again, and their lives are filled with possibilities.

At VOA we go beyond meeting basic needs, providing additional support like mental health services, transportation and job training. As long as it takes to get children, vets, families and others back on their feet, together, we’ll be there.

If you or someone you love needs help, please reach out to us today.

Thank you, again, for all you do!

Sincerely,

Stephanie Paauwe
Vice President
Volunteers of America

P.S. Darla beat the odds with you and VOA alongside her. For many other families struggling and needing help, please consider donating to VOA. You'll provide critical relief and care where it's needed most.
