CNN: "NRA sues Maryland governor after he signs gun safety legislation"

Literally moments after I signed the Gun Safety Act of 2023 to keep guns out of our schools, government buildings, and health care facilities – the NRA and a gun dealer sued our state.

I emailed you just a few days ago that "there will always be those who try to move us backwards. Individuals driven by greed or fear or hate who will hurt others for their own gain. So we cannot rest on our laurels."

Well, here's the proof. We're trying to move Maryland forward, and the NRA is trying to drag us backward.

We can stand up to their greed and hate. We don't have to accept the hundreds of gun deaths in our state every year. We can show that simple, commonsense gun safety laws save lives and bring hope to our communities.

Let's send a message that the NRA can't miss: If you come for Maryland, expect a fight. Chip in whatever you can to keep up the fight.
