Good Evening,

It's Wednesday, May 17th.

Biden to G7

President Biden will seek to maintain unity among allies in supporting Ukraine and countering China’s economic clout at a summit of the Group of Seven industrialized nations, as the threat of default in the U.S. complicates that message and prompts him to curtail his international travel, as the WSJ reports.

Ukraine-Russia Grain Deal

Ukraine and Russia agreed on Wednesday to a two-month extension of a wartime agreement that allows Ukraine to ship its grain across the Black Sea, easing uncertainty over a deal seen as vital for preventing famine in other parts of the world, as the NYT reports.

Russia Damages Patriot System

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky again called on allies to provide more air defense assets following a barrage of Russian airstrikes on Kyiv. Ukraine’s military shot down 18 missiles during the attacks on the capital, Zelensky said, but more support is needed to protect the entire country, as The Washington Post reports.
