Matt Dolan’s trip to the southern border with Ohio law enforcement continues to make news In case you missed it, Matt Dolan was out with a new border security focused op-ed that ran in more than dozen papers across Ohio, including the Columbus Dispatch, Cincinnati Enquirer and Akron Beacon Journal. Dolan discussed his recent trip to the U.S. southern border, took Joe Biden, Alejandro Mayorkas and Sherrod Brown to task for their policy failures, and outlined multi-faceted solutions that would help to protect America and reduce overdose deaths in Ohio. Dolan recently joined members of Ohio law enforcement in Athens Ohio for a tour of BuckEye Cam, an Ohio-based trail camera manufacturer that is providing technology and hardware to state and federal agencies on the southern border. Dolan used the trip to Athens on Friday to call on the Biden Administration to “extend Title 42, designate the China-backed cartels as foreign terrorists and take the necessary steps with infrastructure, civilian and military personnel to stop the flow of human trafficking and fentanyl into the country, save American lives and restore our nation’s sovereignty.” |
Cook Political Report says Dolan is GOP’s best bet against Sherrod Brown The Cook Political Report is out with fresh analysis on the U.S. Senate in Ohio, and it reflects what many Ohio Republicans already know: “Both Democrats and Republicans we talked to agree that Dolan would be the most formidable candidate Brown could face…” “Dolan would be a low-risk, strong candidate,” one veteran Ohio GOP strategist told us. Race handicappers also noted the fact that Bernie Moreno’s Civil War reparations gaffe overshadowed the launch of his campaign: “But Moreno’s campaign trail inexperience was on display last week just days into his candidacy. Appearing at a campaign launch, the Cleveland businessman suggested that there should be reparations for descendants of white Union soldiers who fought in the Civil War, alluding to the ongoing debate over reparations for descendants of enslaved Black people. “They talk about reparations. Where are the reparations for the people, for the North, who died to save the lives of Black people?" Moreno said. "I know it’s not politically correct to say that, but you know what, we've got to stop being politically correct… Ohio Republicans we talked to saw it as a warning sign he may not be ready for prime time. “Moreno has never been a real candidate and he could be mistake-prone,” one strategist said. “If you’re a serious candidate, you don’t say those kinds of things tongue-in-cheek,” the source added. Another Buckeye strategist told us that while Trump may be able to get away with comments like that, “it doesn’t mean somebody else can do that and be successful.” Cook Report also offered the following comments on Frank LaRose, as a self-described “pragmatic moderate,” who is also soliciting money from national donors in support of a Senate bid: “LaRose is also expected to join the fray, but the ideological chameleon could have issues competing with two self-funders.” |
Sherrod Brown again was recently caught playing games with his personal taxes According to NBC News, Sen. Sherrod Brown for years claimed an owner-occupancy tax credit at two properties, public records show — a potential violation of the state’s rules governing such incentives. Brown was also late paying the tax bill on their Cleveland house at least seven times since purchasing it in 2013, missing a payment deadline as recently as February. At one point in 2015, the county labeled Brown as delinquent after he failed for months to pay a nearly $1,200 bill. As for late payments, publicly available copies of property tax bills for Brown’s Cleveland home show fees for missing deadlines on their 2022, 2021, 2019, 2018, 2015 and 2014 taxes. In 2012, The Plain Dealer of Cleveland reported on tax delinquencies involving a condo Brown owned in Washington, D.C. In recent days, Matt Dolan attended events in Columbus, Toledo, Findlay, Lima, Perrysburg, Gallipolis, Port Clinton, Warren, Athens, Belmont, Ashtabula, Trumbull County, Cleveland and Lewis Center. Below are pictures of Matt attending Lincoln Day Dinners, earned notable Ohio endorsements, hosting events and focusing on key issues of importance across Ohio. |
