John:
When Becca decided to run for Congress, she made expanding mental health care for Vermonters a key component of her platform.
Now, she’s taking serious action to address the ongoing mental health crisis impacting Americans in Congress – particularly teens and young adults.
- First, Becca introduced the Peer Education and Emergency Response for Mental Health Act earlier this spring, a bill to invest federal dollars in training teachers, school personnel, and students to assist their peers who may be facing a mental health crisis.
- Then, she joined Congressman Brian Steil (WI-01) to introduce the Protecting Young Minds Online Act, a bill to launch research into the mental health impact of social media on kids and young adults.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, there are more bills related to mental health and well-being moving through Congress than ever before. Thanks to courageous leaders like Becca – who are open about their own struggles with mental health and willing to work across party lines to find common ground – it’s likely that we will see real action on this issue before the end of the year.
Becca is taking our priorities and turning them into meaningful policies. We need to keep effective, bold leaders like her fighting for all of us in Washington. Please pitch in $5 or more to help Becca continue pushing for mental health reform and progressive policy action as our Congresswoman. [[link removed]]
