Today marks the 69th anniversary of the groundbreaking Brown vs Board of Education Supreme Court decision that ended legal segregation of public schools. While this decision opened possibilities for a just and equal public education system, we are tasked to still fight for a public education system where our students and our communities can thrive.

The Brown vs Board of Education ruling was a watershed moment in our history, highlighting the need for equality in education and setting the stage for further reforms. Now, we are seeing more attacks on young people everyday, from heightened racist and anti-LGBTQ+ attacks to closing of schools in predominantly communities of color. Students and their families are on the frontlines, demanding to feel safe, seen and supported. We are right there alongside them.

At Advancement Project, we believe in the importance of meaningful investments in supportive measures rather than punitive ones, and in the value of prioritizing students' mental and emotional well-being. And we are supporting local grassroot groups with legal, campaign and narrative strategies to demand that public schools are places where students are encouraged to learn and grow, and where their potential is fully nurtured and realized.

To help us continue our work, please consider making a donation. Every contribution, big or small, brings us closer to achieving our vision. [[link removed]]

As we acknowledge this important day in history, we invite you to join us in our commitment to fighting to ensure that our nation's young people are cared for and provided the robust liberatory education they deserve.

In solidarity,
Judith Browne Dianis
