Hey John,
I'm excited to let you know that yesterday, Rep. Hank Johnson and I introduced the Judiciary Act of 2023, which would expand the Supreme Court.
Will you join me as an original citizen cosponsor by adding your name to expand the number of Supreme Court justices?
The total lack of an enforceable code of ethics on the Supreme Court is unacceptable, especially amidst multiple allegations of impropriety surrounding Justices Thomas, Gorsuch, and Roberts.
In just the last few weeks, we’ve learned that a wealthy GOP donor has subsidized private jet rides and yacht trips for Clarence Thomas. And bought Thomas’ mother’s house. And paid for Thomas’ relatives’ private school tuition. And secretly funneled $25,000 to Thomas’ wife (who still parrots Trump’s Big Lie about the stolen election).
It’s dangerous, John. The Supreme Court makes life-changing decisions about our fundamental rights and freedoms, yet they do not abide by a standard Code of Ethics.
Not only that — but since McConnell and Trump stole two seats to install an illegitimate right-wing majority that is deliberately stripping our constitutional rights, the faith and trust in our Supreme Court is at an all-time low.
The founders of our country believed in a fair, impartial Supreme Court that was above politics — which is far from what we have now.
We need to begin to restore trust and balance to the Supreme Court.
That’s what the legislation I’ve introduced will do. It will expand the number of seats on the Supreme Court. After Trump and McConnell stacked the highest judicial body in our country with their appointees – not just once, not just twice, but three times – it’s high time we unstack it.
John, please add your name as a citizen cosponsor of our legislation to expand the Supreme Court and restore dignity and trust in our institutions.
Thank you for showing your support for this important work.
