John: The most pressing threat to children’s futures right now is the climate crisis. Nearly 710 million kids are living in countries at the highest risk of suffering the impact of the climate crisis – and every single child today will suffer from more frequent extreme weather events than ever before, with deadly consequences.
The massive consequences of the climate crisis are already being felt today in the Horn of Africa, which is experiencing one of the worst droughts in the region’s history. Over 20 million children across Somalia, Ethiopia and Kenya are at risk of severe malnutrition and famine, a crisis further worsened by supply-chain issues because of the war in Ukraine. We need to act – and we need to act now.
That’s why we set an ambitious goal to add 500 new Team Tomorrow members in the next 48 hours to help us respond to the most urgent issues threatening children’s futures. Now, we’re counting on you to help us get there and create the lasting change children urgently need.
