Last summer, I filed a lawsuit against Ostrom Mushroom Farms in Sunnyside for discriminating against female farmworkers and creating a toxic work environment and culture of retaliation.
Earlier today, I joined impacted farmworkers at El Centro de la Raza to announce that Ostrom is required to pay $3.4 million for the harm they caused — and send a clear message that Washington will not tolerate discrimination or retaliation. That money will go directly to the farmworkers to compensate them.
In my first term as Attorney General, I created a brand new Civil Rights Division to ensure all Washingtonians are treated fairly and equally. I am proud that my outstanding team continues to deliver on this promise.
As Governor, I will bring this same level of commitment. And I'm hoping that you'll stand with me in this important fight.
Thank you for your time and support.
