Team,
This year is already record-breaking for anti-trans legislation, and it’s only May.
In the past five months, 540+ bills targeting transgender people have been introduced across the country — including numerous bills in each of Groundwork Project’s target states. Add your name to join us in demanding an end to this dangerous trend:
These bills restrict health care access for transgender adults and teens, dehumanize transgender children by preventing them from enjoying sports, and ultimately put the entire transgender community in danger.
Not only that, but transgender and non-binary lawmakers who are standing up for their communities are being attacked by their Republican colleagues.
Just recently, Rep. Zooey Zephyr was banned from the Montana House floor by Republican lawmakers. Before that, Rep. Mauree Turner in Oklahoma was stripped of their committee assignments and censured by the state’s GOP-controlled legislature — both because they spoke out against the rise in anti-trans legislation.
No one in our free democracy should be denied health care or denied the right to live as their true self. Period.
That’s why today, on International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Lesbophobia, and Transphobia, we’re demanding an end to the anti-transgender bills that are detrimental to the health, safety, and well-being of our transgender friends, family, and neighbors.
