Hello John,
Two weeks ago, people across many areas of England made a choice.
They voted for the Liberal Democrats. Many for the first time.
If you were one of those people who voted for us, John, thank you. You were
part of thebest local election results

the Liberal Democrats have had in years.
Weâve been speaking to voters about what made them switch to the Liberal
Democrats.
So, here are 8 reasons why people voted Lib Dem, and why now is the perfect
time to join usâŠ
đĄ Theyâre angry with the Conservatives
Theyâve crashed the economy, the NHS, and even their own poll ratings - but
more than anything theyâve lost the respect and trust of the British people.
Thatâs why they lost over 1000 seats in the local elections, and why voters
across their heartlands are switching to the Liberal Democrats instead. They
are fed up with being taken for granted by these self-serving Conservatives.
đ„ Labour isnât offering enough
But people arenât enthused with Keir Starmer either - and we showed voters
that we were capable of winning against Labour too, by taking seats from them
in order to hold Hull Council and making gains in Liverpool.
With the Conservatives and Labour not impressing voters, they are turning to
the Liberal Democrats because they know we have plans to address the big issues
of the day, including:
đ©ș We have a plan for the NHS & Social Care
Our health and social care systems are broken and the Conservatives are only
making matters worse, so we have announced the following policies to help fix
these urgent problems:
Guaranteed GP appointments
<[link removed]>
A Carerâs Minimum Wage
<[link removed]>
Access to dental care for all
<[link removed]>
A proper plan to fix social care

đš We have a plan to keep you safe
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their own home. Families should have the
confidence that if someone does break in, the criminal will be caught and
punished.Our Burglary Response Guarantee

coupled with the funding and resources needed so local police forces can get
the job done, will help tackle these crimes.
đȘ We have a long term plan for energy bills
Over the past year, energy bills have hit record highs. People have been
forced to choose between heating and eating. Businesses face closure. Schools,
hospitals, and public services are being pushed into difficult choices.
Meanwhile, oil and gas companies like BP and Shell are making record profits
off the back of high bills.
We have passed a new policy to solve the energy crisis for the long term
<[link removed]>, and called
on the government toprovide more support by taxing energy companies
<[link removed]>
and ensuring their customers arenât being taken for granted.
đ We have a plan to tackle rising food prices
The cost of the weekly shop has soared over the last twelve months, now
costing families an extra ÂŁ600 a year. Hard-working families shouldnât have to
worry about putting food on the table. People deserve a fair deal. Thatâs why
weâve set outa five-point plan to bring down food bills

đ© We are relentless in our campaign against sewage
Weâve really rattled the Conservatives on this one. Weâve called them out
every time
<[link removed]>
they have failed to protect our rivers, beaches and lakes -eventually forcing
them to cave in and back our plans
<[link removed]>.
Not only has this been popular with voters - several national newspapers have
started their own campaigns on this issue, thanks to our campaigning.
đ We have a plan to fix the broken asylum system
The UK has a proud and long-standing tradition of opening its arms and
providing sanctuary to those in need of protection. The Conservative government
is trying to trash that legacy with the Illegal Migration Bill. Now, more than
ever, we cannot turn our backs on those who need us. Our members recently voted
ona new policy which sets out our plan
