MAGA Republicans are threatening a default if we don't put Medicaid & public education on the chopping block Indivisibles,
Kevin McCarthy and the MAGA House remain committed to driving the country into a catastrophic default unless Democrats agree to the draconian spending cuts they’re demanding. The worst of those cuts include:
- Slashed funding for Medicaid, jeopardizing healthcare for seniors and kids with disabilities
- Massive cuts to education funding, impacting 32 million kids and causing over 100,000 teachers to lose their jobs
With the country set to breach the debt ceiling as soon as June 1, we need to act now to break the logjam and push through a clean bill (that means no MAGA hostage demands) to prevent a default (and the global recession that would follow).
That's why Indivisible is kicking off a MAGA Default Crisis Week of Action beginning this Friday. Indivisible groups across the country have planned nearly 100 creative, press-worthy events pushing their Members of Congress to pay the country’s damn bills while defending American families and the programs our communities depend on.
In short, we’re going all in to avert a MAGA default crisis, before it’s too late.
We're providing a wide range of support to groups -- from grants and reimbursements to messaging guidance, trainings, and more. We want to give them everything they need to make these events big and splashy. But to do that we need your help.
If you're ready to fight back against the MAGA Republicans’ default plans, pitch in so we can continue to support the grassroots organizing that will win this fight.

Indivisible has been at the forefront of this battle for months, and we know grassroots pressure can make the difference because we’ve seen it before. Thanks in part to the strategic organizing of Indivisible groups, Republicans had to back off their earlier plans to cut Social Security and Medicare.
Now they’ve turned to slashing funds for Medicaid and education, SNAP, and other vital programs -- but the basic demand is the same: Kevin McCarthy and the extremists in the House GOP want us to choose between a catastrophic default crisis that would devastate our economy, or plunging seniors and hardworking families into poverty (also devastating our economy!).
This week, we kick our pressure campaign into high gear. In Congressional districts across the country, we’re fighting back -- exposing the cruelty of Republican demands and trying to peel off every vote we can to pass a clean bill to avert default.
