Hi Friend, We mentioned earlier in the week that there’s a lot happening in Carson City! As promised, we have lots of updates for you and ways you can help for the rest of the week. Check out what is coming up for the next few days below! Before we get to the hearings happening the rest of this week, we're just THREE signatures away from prohibiting the purchase of a firearm for up to 10 years post-conviction of a hate crime, raising the age to buy an assault rifle, closing the loophole on ghost guns, and protecting our election sites from intimidation. We need YOUR help in urging Governor Lombardo to sign SB171, AB354, and AB355. CALL GOVERNOR LOMBARDO AND TELL HIM TO PUT SAFETY FIRST! Wednesday 5/17 8 AM - Assembly Judiciary hearings on fentanyl bills SB35, SB343 Both bills do the same thing - bring back the war on drugs-style policies that will harm not help communities. OPPOSE How you can help:
9 AM - Assembly Government Affairs hearing on SB371 SB371 authorizes a board of county commissioners and the governing body of an incorporated city to, with certain exceptions, enact an ordinance or measure relating to affordable housing. SUPPORT How you can help:
12 PM - Assembly Commerce and Labor hearing on SB302 SB302 protects patients and providers for providing/getting services for gender-affirming care. SUPPORT How you can help:
4 PM - Assembly Ways and Means hearing on AB28 AB28 establishes the Nevada Baby Bonds program so Nevada families can invest in their children’s future through this bonds program with the State Treasurer’s office. SUPPORT
Friday 5/19 8 AM - Assembly Ways and Means hearing on AB319 AB319 Makes an appropriation to the Department of Education for universal free breakfast and lunch for Nevada pupils. SUPPORT
