I’m Sam Schwartz. I'm about to invite you to the most consequential event of the summer. But first let me tell you about my cousin...
In 2018, my cousin and best friend, Alex Schachter, was murdered by a gunman with an AR-15 during the Parkland Shooting.
I was just 14 when the shooting happened and my world was turned upside-down. That’s why I’ve been fighting for a federal assault weapons ban these last 5 years.

I’m sick and tired of congressional inaction.
It’s five years later, and NOTHING has changed.
This year alone, we’ve seen over 200 mass shootings tear apart communities and families across this country.
But our lawmakers would rather play political games and accept blood money than save our lives.
So, I’m holding a sit-in at the U.S. Capitol from June 6th to June 12th to DEMAND a vote to ban assault weapons.
I KNOW we can pressure our Congress to act, but only if we all come together. If you’re tired of waking up every day to the news of another massacre, will you join me starting June 6th? >>
If you’re fed up, but can’t make it to our sit-in – please chip in $5, $15, or whatever you can spare before midnight to make our event possible. Donations will help us purchase food and other necessities to sustain our sit-in. >>
I’ll be real:
I didn’t join this fight until my cousin was slaughtered in his English class.
Don’t be like me. Don’t wait until you have to bury your loved ones to start caring.
Join the fight before it’s too late. Join the fight before someone you love is next. Here’s how:
1. Sign up now to join me, gun violence survivors, and advocates who have had ENOUGH starting June 6th at the U.S. Capitol to demand real change from Congress. >>
2. Chip in any amount asap to make this massive event a success and help prevent future mass shootings. >>
3. Or spread the word about the sit-in and encourage your friends to join us. >>
Thank you from the bottom of my heart. We couldn’t pull this off without your help.
With gratitude,
Sam Schwartz
