Dear John,
In April, I wrote to AFSC supporters like you to ask for donations to supply elders in Gaza with essentials such as wheelchairs, walkers, medical mattresses, and hygiene items. I am deeply grateful to all who responded. We have begun putting kits together, and deliveries were originally set to begin in June.
Donate now to help elders meet essential needs.
But last week, Israel conducted extensive airstrikes on the Gaza strip. In only five days, 33 Palestinians were killed, among them six children. At least 147 civilians were injured, including 48 children and 10 elders. More than a thousand households were damaged. This is on top of the deep, long-term damage caused by the blockade on Gaza, which had already created a humanitarian emergency.
A truce was declared just days ago, and AFSC’s team in Gaza immediately began identifying elders who were impacted and seeing how we can help. We could use your help to expand our humanitarian response. Will you make a gift today to help deliver urgently needed humanitarian assistance to seniors impacted by the airstrikes?
For many people, international relief is the only avenue for meeting basic needs. Your generous donation can help add someone’s name to our delivery list. On behalf of all the team, thank you for considering this request.
In peace,
Hanady Muhiar
