Explore 26 New Rule of Law Reports

Today the World Justice Project is proud to release a new series of Rule of Law reports that draw on nationally representative surveys across Latin America and the Caribbean.

The 26 country reports visualize a breadth of new data and expand on insights in the 2022 WJP Rule of Law Index. The new findings reflect the voices of the people on topics including crime, security, fundamental freedoms, access to justice, and more.

While the rule of law landscape varies country to country, our surveys show that perceptions of authoritarian behavior are widespread.

Across Latin America and the Caribbean, people believe top government officials are attacking key checks on executive power, including the media, the judiciary, and electoral systems.

They also believe that officials who break the law can easily escape accountability.

EXPLORE THE REPORTS

In Central America, our new reports also explore migration, as well as the rule of law challenges that drive many people to leave. We found that close to one-third of people in the “Northern Triangle” (El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras) wish to leave their country.

LEARN MORE

WJP plans to publish additional reports that provide an in-depth look at rule of law trends around the world. We are committed to expanding the production and dissemination of people-centered data so that diverse stakeholders can pinpoint rule of law weaknesses and develop policies to address them.
