On the list of things I didn’t count myself having to do this week – sending a letter to Idealist to get anti-abortion hatred off its site. Idealist prides itself on being “the world’s largest social impact job board” with hundreds of job listings and volunteer opportunities post for those who want to help build a better world.
For Idealist, it seems that better world includes anti-abortion organizations working to strip away reproductive rights. We recently found listings for Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America (SBA Pro-Life America), a group actively opposing fundamental human rights by pushing for a national abortion ban.
Even though Idealist’s own values statement declares its intention to uplift voices with “ideas and solutions for a more equitable world,” they continue to host listings from organizations explicitly curtailing human rights like SBA Pro-Life America as well as the Institute of Reproductive Grief, which seeks to capitalize on the pain of people experiencing pregnancy loss to serve up an anti-abortion agenda.
