ACLU Supporter – Today, the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals heard oral arguments in a case that could ultimately rip away FDA approval for mifepristone – a drug used in more than half of all abortions in the U.S. To be clear, this case is and always has been a blatant attempt from anti-abortion extremist groups to accomplish their end-goal: Banning abortion nationwide. Because this case will almost certainly find its way to the Supreme Court again, 84 organizations – including the ACLU – are joining together to speak out at the steps of SCOTUS with petition signatures and the strength of our community with us. We need your voice: ACLU Supporter, we will keep saying this as long as it takes: This case should have been thrown out of court from the very start. Mifepristone was approved by the FDA over two decades ago and since then has been used by millions of people to safely and effectively end an early pregnancy and to treat miscarriages. The only reason mifepristone is facing a battle in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals today is because ideological extremists are trying to push their political agenda to end reproductive freedom. We're not going to let them do this without a fight. We hope you won't, either. Don't wait to speak out. Sign the petition to protect medication abortion. Stay tuned for more updates on this important case, The ACLU Team |
