I don’t know how anyone could treat an animal this way:
A mother dog in a puppy mill can spend her whole life in a cage. She never feels the comfort of a soft bed or a gentle hand. When the weather turns cold or wet, she struggles to stay warm and dry. Her needs are ignored by puppy millers. To them, her only use is to breed repeatedly, to churn out puppies until her body gives out.
Friend, I know you won’t stand for this cruelty. That’s why I’m asking for your help to meet our May fundraising goal of $35,000. Your support now will protect mother dogs in puppy mills and help end pain and suffering for all animals. ([link removed])

The Humane Society Legislative Fund is fighting to pass legislation like the Puppy Protection Act, which would require better treatment of animals at large-scale breeding facilities licensed by the USDA. Currently, these facilities are required to provide the bare minimum of care for these dogs, but the Puppy Protection Act would require stronger standards of care including increased enclosure sizes, solid flooring, exercise, feeding twice per day, socialization, increased veterinary care, and protection from extreme temperatures.
