24 Reasons to Donate to Doorways Today
Find your reason! Follow Doorways on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook today to see 24 reasons to donate to Doorways during Do More 24. As one of our amazing email subscribers, here's the first four now, just for you:
| |
#1: We serve our community 24 hours per day, every day
We're here all day, every day, no exceptions. (Not even COVID or shutdowns can close our doors.) How? Because your support makes it possible! At least HALF of Doorways' annual funding comes from supporters like you, doing what you can, when you can, to invest in safe harbor, healing, and hope.
| |
#2: According to our clients, we're doing it well
While we measure many quantifiable data points to gauge the success of our programs—like how many of our clients graduate from shelter into permanent housing—we also survey our clients quarterly for their critical feedback. Surveys are anonymous to ensure clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and experiences. Here are just two examples:
-
97% of clients served by Court Advocates reported feeling more confident during court proceedings because of Doorways' court advocacy services.
- Of Revive counseling program clients surveyed, 100% reported increased understanding and knowledge of the impact of trauma and domestic violence/sexual assault, and 100% reported that they were helped to plan for their safety by Revive.

#3: Doorways is doing more each year
So far in 2023, 101 survivors and their family members have found safe harbor in Doorways' safehousing, compared to 107 total in all of 2022, and the year isn't over yet. Serving more people each year is only possible when supporters like you come together to do more, too.
#4: We've been doing this for 45 years
When you donate your money, you want to feel confident in the organization you're giving it to. For 45 years, Doorways has earned the trust and financial investment from community members like you, businesses, foundations, and local, state, and federal governments who support our programs through competitive grants. Here are four reasons why:
-
Doorways is fiscally responsible: Our financial management and transparency has been lauded by independent evaluators including Charity Navigator, GuideStar, Catalogue for Philanthropy, and annual auditors (see our complete financial statements on our website).
-
Doorways is Arlington's only provider these supports for survivors: 24-hour safehousing (emergency shelter); 24-Hour Domestic and Sexual Violence Hotline (703-237-0881); hospital accompaniment for survivors seeking forensic exams following sexual and/or domestic assaults; mobile advocacy; court advocacy; and free individual and group counseling.
-
We are committed to continuous improvement: As the needs of our clients and our community evolve, so do we. Utilizing best practices, frequent internal and external evaluation, and client surveys and input, we listen, learn, and strengthen our programs to best serve the adults, youth, and children who come to us for help.
-
You don't just have to take our word for it: Hear from our clients about their experiences with Doorways.
