Hi friend,

We know that to tackle the climate crisis, we must rapidly phase out fossil fuels and transition to a clean energy economy. But did you know that a crucial place to do that is in the U.S. health care sector?

American hospitals invest BILLIONS of dollars in fossil fuels via their pension funds, endowments, and more.

Just the pension funds of four of the biggest hospital systems — Kaiser Permanente, Mayo Clinic Health Systems, HCA Healthcare, and Ascension — invest at least $4.6 billion in some of the dirtiest fossil fuel producers. Those include Suncor, North America’s largest “tar sands” company, and the Willow Project to extract half-billion barrels of crude oil from the Alaskan Arctic.

By investing in fossil fuel companies that are the primary cause of climate change, hospitals are not living up to their own standard.

At a time when Californians’ health, lives, and livelihoods are on the line from record heat waves, floods, pollution, and extreme wildfires, we should all be transitioning AWAY from fossil fuels. Instead, hospitals are using the money we spend for our medical care to prop up fossil fuel corporate profits and exacerbate the climate crisis.

Please sign the digital petition to show our health care institutions the public support behind divesting from fossil fuels.

Thanks for standing up to the fossil fuel industry.
