Last month, a majority of US Senators voted for the Equal Rights Amendment. This was the first vote in the US Senate taken on the ERA in over 40 years.
Every Democrat, every Independent, and only two Republicans, Senators Lisa Murkowski ([R-AK) and Susan Collins (R-ME), voted for the ERA.
The good news is that, there will be additional opportunities to vote again on the ERA in this same session of Congress.
So, I am asking you to send a letter letting them know you are disappointed in them.
The overwhelming majority of voters are in favor of the ERA, your Senators know it too.
John, this is why I urge you to send a message today.
We will make clear that any 2024 candidate who stands against the ERA is a candidate who does not care about women’s rights, reproductive freedom, marriage equality, and reducing gender violence.
Thank you for doing your part to keep the ERA's momentum going and growing, John.
For equality and victory,
Eleanor Smeal, President |
