The Snohomish County and Skagit County Departments of Emergency Management have an exciting opportunity to equip you with invaluable knowledge and skills to navigate one of nature's most unpredictable and powerful forces ? flooding. We are thrilled to announce (AWR 362): Flooding Hazards: Science & Preparedness to help prepare our area for winter flooding. We encourage you to sign up and be part of this enlightening experience.

As we have witnessed in recent years, flooding events have become more frequent and severe. By understanding the science behind floods, you will gain the knowledge necessary to effectively assess risks, make informed decisions, and take proactive measures to protect yourself, your loved ones, and your organization. Representatives from the University of Hawaii will lead the seminar, providing you with firsthand knowledge and practical tips. Topics include flood risk assessment, early warning systems, evacuation protocols, safe preperation, and much more. These insights can be applied not only at work but also in your personal life, ensuring the safety of your loved ones and your community.

The details of the seminar are as follows:

*Date:* Monday November 13th and Tuesday November 14th

*Time:* 1pm to 5pm Pacific Time

*Location:* Virtual course

*Duration:* Two-day course at four hours per session
