This year, Republicans prioritized policies to support good government that secure our schools, support our police, and keep our communities safe.
That includes increasing pay for our state police, state conservation officers, and state excise police, all of who were among the lowest paid law enforcement officers in the state.
Now, the starting salary for state troopers will rise to $70,000, an amount that shows our respect and reverence for those that put it all on the line every single day.
The legislature also approved a $7 million investment into regional firefighting training infrastructure and an additional $10 million to purchase new equipment for our volunteer firefighter organizations.
And finally, the Republican-led statehouse also passed legislation to increase funding for school safety and expand how those funds can be used to protect our students and teachers.
These are just a few of the ways Governor Holcomb and statehouse Republicans took action this session to ensure government works better for you.
