Last week, Israelis across southern and central Israel endured an onslaught of more than 1,400 terrorist rockets fired from Islamic Jihad.
The rocket attacks killed one Israeli civilian and a Palestinian worker from Gaza. Dozens more were wounded and families across Israel were forced to spend days and nights in bomb shelters.
Iron Dome intercepted over 430 rockets that would have otherwise crashed into Israeli communities during these attacks, while David’s Sling was used for the first time to intercept missiles over Tel Aviv and Gush Etzion (just south of Jerusalem).
These remarkable defense systems—that we lobby Congress for each year—kept millions of Israelis safe and prevented untold destruction.
For now, news reports indicate that a ceasefire is holding.

Palestinian Islamic Jihad, the U.S.-designated terrorist group behind last week’s attacks, has previously carried out rocket strikes, suicide bombings, and shootings that have killed and wounded hundreds of Israelis.
About 25% of rockets fired by PIJ last week landed inside Gaza, further underscoring that these terrorists are willing to risk civilian lives in Gaza for the chance to kill Israelis.
PIJ and other terror groups like Hamas have vowed to never stop in their quest to kill Israelis and wipe the Jewish state from the map.
That’s why AIPAC works to educate lawmakers and ensure Israel has the resources it needs to defend its citizens.
Currently, AIPAC is working with Congress in support of The Hamas International Financing Prevention Act. This bipartisan legislation imposes sanctions on foreign individuals and nations that support Palestinian terrorist groups Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
In addition, AIPAC is also working with Congress to secure aid to Israel for programs like Iron Dome, the missile defense shield that prevented rockets from striking Israeli communities in the recent attacks.
