Dear
Poynter.
Journalism.
Democracy.
In combination, their impact can be monumental. Poynter holds a key to ensuring democracy remains in our future. Here are a few examples of Poynter's mission in action:
At Poynter, we recently hosted the Essential Skills for Rising Newsroom Leaders seminar, and we are looking forward to convening our upcoming cohort for the Leadership Academy for Women in Media. These participants join 44,000 journalists from newsrooms around the globe that Poynter had a hand in impacting over the last year.
Our MediaWise Teen Fact-Checking Network recently partnered with PBS NewsHour Student Reporting Labs to launch a series of 30 lessons to help students nationwide discern fact from fiction. MediaWise has reached more than 75 million young people throughout the world with media literacy courses in five languages.
Poynter’s PolitiFact is doing incredible work fact-checking statements submitted by readers and remarks made by politicians. Check out some of their recent fact-checks. PolitiFact received 46.5 million page views of their fact-checks last year.
The International Fact-Checking Network grew to 140 member organizations across 63 countries last year. It is the largest consortium of fact checkers in the world. This June, many of those fact checkers will gather for our Global Fact 10 conference in Seoul, South Korea, to ideate and learn.
I hope this gives you a snapshot of Poynter’s tremendous reach. It is only through your support that all of this is possible.
Please consider making a gift to Poynter to support journalism and its critical role in our democracy. We rely on you, and others like you, who value the expansive impact of Poynter. |
Thank you for your support of Poynter's mission! |
