John -- it isn't always easy to do the right thing. But I believe it's always worth it.

That's what I kept thinking when I saw Senator Doug Jones from Alabama put aside electoral concerns and partisan squabbling to vote his conscience. That's what's missing in Washington.

But national Republicans are already lining up to use it as ammunition against him in deep-red Alabama during his re-election. Now it's up to grassroots teams like ours to support Doug.

Sen. Jones has a long history of standing up for justice. He prosecuted KKK members, stood up for fairness, and has been serving hardworking families in the Senate. It should come as no surprise he put politics aside to do what he thought was right

Doug isn't bought and paid for, or overly concerned with partisan nonsense. I hope we get the chance to work together soon on the priorities we share like protecting Social Security, expanding health care, and honoring our veterans and their families. But if Mitch McConnell and his cronies get their way, we're both going to lose in November.

Like I said, I think doing the right thing is always worth it, and I'm hoping this grassroots team will help me prove it. Will you split a donation of $5 or whatever you can afford between Doug Jones and me today?
