John, In the final weeks of this challenging legislative session, it can be hard to find the bright spots. Here’s one for you: the 2023 Texas Rising Graduating Class! 🤠
Please join us in sending our best wishes to the 2023 Class of Texas Rising graduates. These young activists are leading the way in facing down challenges to our bodily autonomy, our public schools, and our democracy. They have resisted and persisted, and I couldn’t be more proud of them or what we’ve accomplished together.

Our Texas Rising program aims to empower young activists with the tools, skills, and knowledge to advocate for the issues that are important to them, their communities, and this state. On more than 20 campuses across Texas, these young activists have organized leadership trainings and virtual education events; testified before the legislature, city councils, and county commissioner courts on critical issues like voting rights, LGBTQIA+ equality, reproductive freedom, and climate change; and have registered tens of thousands of their peers to vote!

These graduates are joining a network of Texas Rising alums who are taking on leadership roles in the communities where they live and work. They are a part of Texas Rising’s vision to build power with talented, politically savvy, and experienced leaders who will mobilize their generation and the ones that follow for lasting progressive change. As a UTRGV Brownsville Texas Rising alum myself, I know firsthand the power of this movement. I'm so excited to be taking on leadership of the program as the new Texas Rising Director, and I can’t wait to see what our graduates go on to achieve!
Please consider honoring the Class of 2023 by making a contribution to our Texas Rising program today. Your gift will help ensure our programming continues to be transformative and impactful for our future graduates and our state. With gratitude, |
Ofelia Alonso (she/her) NEW Texas Rising Director! |
