Beginning this year, we started supporting members who qualify to apply for the “Groceries to Go” program, particularly targeting individuals receiving health services through the city NYC Care program. Read more.

We held the first of our yearly youth identity workshop in Sunnyside, Queens in February, where our young members gathered to discuss connections between identity, culture, and generational gaps and explored the complexity of identification as a Nepali-speaking youth in the U.S. Read more.

This year, we supported a worker member to win a $10,000 wage theft settlement! In 2020, one of our restaurant worker members sued for wage theft which resulted in successful settlement negotiations after nearly three years. Read more.

Adhikaar staff from New York and two member leaders from California and the DMV area (D.C., Maryland, Virginia) attended the national Temporary Protected Status (TPS) convening in DC. Over three days, Adhikaar in coalition with partners from Communities United for Status and Protection (CUSP) and other organizations came together to strategize on TPS administrative and legislative campaigns.
