NAFCU sets record straight on CU tax exemption ([link removed] )

NAFCU Senior Vice President of Government Affairs Greg Mesack Monday wrote to Congress to set the record straight on the credit union tax exemption, noting that it allows credit unions “to reach out in areas banks couldn’t and serve those that banks wouldn’t.” Additionally, the association crafted a one-pager detailing how credit unions use their tax-exempt status to serve their members and communities.

The CFPB has released a compliance guide for small entities as they implement the bureau’s small business lending rule.

NAFCU reiterates stability of CU industry to lawmakers ([link removed] )

The House Financial Services Committee holds an oversight hearing today with federal financial regulators, including NCUA Chairman Todd Harper. Ahead of the hearing, NAFCU Vice President of Legislative Affairs Brad Thaler reiterated that “[t]he credit union system remains safe, strong and reliable. Credit unions stand ready to meet the financial services needs of the American consumer.”

FHFA seeks input on single-family pricing framework ([link removed] )

The Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Monday issued a request for information (RFI) on the government-sponsored enterprises’ (GSEs) single-family pricing framework. NAFCU has continuously advocated for lower guarantee fees for credit unions selling loans to Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac.
