Here are some updates from the last few days.

Today, the U.S. Supreme Court announced that it will review a case regarding South Carolina’s congressional map, which was struck down earlier this year for being racially gerrymandered in violation of the U.S. Constitution.

Also today, Tarrant County, Texas officials, including Congressman Marc Veasey (D), asked the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate county officials for voter intimidation and harassment.

Finally today, a Mississippi judge dismissed a state-level lawsuit challenging House Bill 1020, a recently enacted law that targets Jackson’s majority-Black population. However, portions of the law remain temporarily blocked pending a hearing in a separate federal lawsuit.

On Friday, the Missouri Legislature adjourned without approving a resolution that would have made it harder for voters to amend the state constitution. The Missouri House passed the resolution, but it failed to clear the Senate before the session ended.

Two cases in Arizona head to court tomorrow.

The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals will hold oral argument at 12:30 p.m. ET in an appeal of a lower court decision that blocked portions of a voter suppression law from going into effect.

Then at 4:30 p.m. ET, a state court will hold oral argument over failed attorney general candidate Abe Hamadeh’s (R) motion for a new trial in his election contest.
