Coming Soon: Vintage 2022 Metropolitan/Micropolitan Area, Local Population and Housing Unit Estimates; May 18 [ [link removed] ]

Reminder: This Thursday we will release Vintage 2022 population estimates for metropolitan and micropolitan statistical areas and local governmental units, including incorporated places, minor civil divisions and consolidated cities.

We will also release housing unit estimates for the nation, states and counties.

Prerelease Webinar: 2020 Census Demographic Profile and Demographic and Housing Characteristics File; Tuesday: May 16 @ 1:00 PM ET [ [link removed] ]

Tomorrow, May 16, the Census Bureau will hold a prerelease webinar to discuss the 2020 Census Demographic Profile and Demographic and Housing Characteristics File (DHC) to be publicly released May 25. These products provide demographic and housing characteristics of local communities, including population data on age, sex, race, Hispanic origin, families and households, and data on homeownership and vacant and occupied housing.

The Demographic Profile provides an overview of topics in the 2020 Census in one, easy-to-reference table for geographies down to the tract level. The DHC provides more detailed tables, many down to the block level. The webinar will provide information on the data available and how to access it. A live Q&A session with Census Bureau subject-matter experts will immediately follow the briefing.

StatVentures: Announcing Phase 1 Winners for First-Of-Its-Kind Venture Fund on Supply Chain Data [ [link removed] ]

Last week, we announced the phase 1 winners of the StatVentures Supply Chain Challenge!

StatVentures, a Census Open Innovation Labs initiative, invited participants to propose new ways to improve America's supply chain data. Eleven winners were selected for their unique approaches, including the use of satellite imagery, transaction data standards, and more.

Household Pulse Survey

On Wednesday, May 17, the Census Bureau will release new data from phase 3.8 of the experimental Household Pulse Survey. The survey is an effort by the Census Bureau and other federal statistical agencies to provide near real-time data on how the COVID-19 pandemic and changes in social and economic conditions are affecting people’s lives to inform federal and state response and recovery planning.

Data collection for phase 3.8 began on March 1, with data dissemination, including detailed data tables and public use data files, on a monthly basis.

Coming May 18: New Data from the Annual Survey of School System Finances

The Census Bureau will release new data from the 2021 Annual Survey of School System Finances on Thursday, May 18. Tables will provide new data on current spending per pupil in addition to data on revenues, expenditures, debt and assets for public schools (pre-K to grade 12) in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.
