While everyone is abuzz this week about Iowa and the race for the White House, let's not lose sight of other races this year that'll change the course of our politics for a generation.

A small sliver of state legislative races in key chambers across the country will decide majorities and, in turn, our electoral maps through 2032. But Democrats don't have to choose between beating Trump in 2020 and retaking key state legislative chambers at the heart of the 2021 redistricting process like the Texas State House. We can do both.

Traveling across the country, I hear repeatedly from Democrats that they're singularly focused on defeating Trump. However, as I wrote last week in Business Insider ([link removed]), "it doesn't have to be a zero-sum choice between fueling efforts to defeat Trump or supporting Democratic state legislative campaigns."
