Team,
Right around this time last year, many of us were feeling hopeless. The Supreme Court’s draft decision in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization was leaked to Politico — effectively overturning Roe v. Wade and nationwide access to abortion.
Before this leak, we knew this was a possibility. It’s why months before the ruling, we gathered partners in Michigan to see if running a ballot measure to preserve abortion access was even possible. The polling looked good, and so from there, Reproductive Freedom For All was launched.
But when this leak was published, it strengthened our resolve to fight even harder. We knew Michigan wouldn’t be the only state where abortion access was threatened by this decision, so we worked with partners in Vermont and across the country to protect abortion access everywhere possible.
And this past November, after months of grueling work, voters in five states decisively chose to protect their reproductive rights at the ballot box. These wins were huge — not only because they were the first abortion protection ballot measures in history, but because these wins set the tone for the fight for reproductive freedom in this country.
Time and again since November, voters have proven that banning abortion is a losing position. And despite 8 in 10 Americans wanting to see abortion remain protected, extremist officials across the country are still trying to put their personal beliefs before the rights of the constituents they were elected to represent.
Now, 10 states remain where we could use ballot measures to protect abortion access for good — some are even states where active bans are currently on the books. Believe me when I say we are doing everything we can to bring voters in these states the opportunity to codify their reproductive freedom.
We’re gearing up for the fights ahead. Will you join me and the rest of our Fairness Project team with a donation today to help us prepare for our next slate of ballot measure campaigns to protect abortion access, friend?
