Congratulations to Allie Bullock! The New Albany High School 10th grade student is the first place winner of Mississippi's First Congressional District Art Competition. Allie submitted a painting titled, "The Climbing Tree." She received her award during a ceremony held at Blue Mountain Christian University. Allie said the tree featured in her artwork was her favorite tree to climb as a child. Brent and Jennifer Bullock, Allie's parents, said their daughter has been drawing since she could hold a pencil. Allie's artwork will be displayed for one year in the U.S. Capitol along with other winners from across the United States. Art competition details are available HERE.

This week, Shannon Arick, owner of Bits N Pieces, LLC, in West Point, will be recognized as the U.S. Small Business Administration's (SBA) 2023 Mississippi Rural Small Business of the Year! Shannon, a U.S. Army Veteran, proudly served our great Nation from 1990 until 2008. Her service included deployments to Kuwait supporting Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraq supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. 

In August 2020, Shannon pursued her dream of becoming a small business owner. Bits N Pieces, LLC, is an antiques and consignment store. We are proud of Shannon and all our small business owners and entrepreneurs in Mississippi's First Congressional District. They are the backbone of Mississippi's economy.
