Friend, of the whopping 2,600 bills introduced in the California Legislature this year, EnviroVoters has identified 23 priority bills that will make the biggest impact on the climate crisis.

Every year, our legislative team combs through the thousands of bills introduced by California legislators one by one and creates a list of every important climate bill that we need your help to pass.

Friend, check out our tracker to see our full list, the progress we’ve made so far on each bill, and how YOU can make an impact >>

We’ve already told you about some of the important bills this year, like the climate accountability package (SB 253, SB 252, and SB 261) and AB 421 (referendum reform), but there are so many other important ones we’re excited to share — advocate for — with you.

For instance, SB 337 authored by Senator Min would codify 30x30, solidifying Governor Newsom’s plan to conserve 30% of California’s land by 2030.

And AB 460, authored by Assemblymember Bauer-Kahan, would empower the State Resources Water Control Board to prevent the illegal uses of water, thus protecting indigenous communities and wilderness regions that depend on steady streams of clean water.

If we want 2023 to match the pace of last year’s massive wins, we need to act strategically and pass ALL 23 of these bills.

And remember our annual California Environmental Scorecard, friend? A huge part of legislators’ environmental scores is based on how they vote on these climate bills!

Learn which bills to watch by checking out our State Priority Bills page today!

Stay tuned over the next few months and we’ll let you know more about what each of these environmental bills would do, why they’re important, and what you can do to make sure they pass in 2023.

Thanks for staying engaged.
