Yesterday I voted to convict the President of the United States and remove him from office for abuse of power and obstruction of Congress.

The evidence was clear and overwhelming, yet all but one Republican fell in line with Trump and McConnell and voted to acquit.

Every Republican up for re-election this year made the calculation to put party first. They decided they were more afraid of Donald Trump’s wrath than the future of our country.

If we want to save and restore faith in our democracy, we must make sure Democrats take back the Senate this year. Otherwise, this institution may crumble at the hands of Mitch McConnell.

So we need to flip a few seats, and one of our best chances is in Maine. Susan Collins has been one of President Trump’s most important votes. She is no longer a moderate or independent voice for her constituents.

Help us replace Susan Collins by splitting a $3 donation between Sara Gideon’s and my campaign. We need your help if we’re going to flip the Senate in November.

Susan Collins voted to acquit based on her own claim that Trump had learned “a pretty big lesson” and would “be more cautious.”

It makes no sense to think that Trump has learned from his mistakes.

When Rudy went back to Ukraine in December — in the middle of impeachment — to dig up more dirt, Trump called him seconds after his plane landed to find out what he got.

The corruption hasn’t stopped.

We need to replace Susan Collins with a true independent voice.
