Yesterday was Mother’s Day – and I want to start by saying thank you for all the kind wishes I received!

I am so honored to be the first mom in history to represent West Michigan in Congress. As I advocate for our communities, I make sure that supporting our kids and their parents is a top priority. I am proud to be a member of the Black Maternal Health Caucus and to have led groups of moms in Congress opposing anti-family legislation.

The next generation deserves leaders who will work to preserve the environment, protect their rights and keep our communities safe. As a mom of two young kids myself, this is what motivates me every day.
